ey Eric,
Thanks for adding me to your link roll. good confessional .. to answer your ??? ... as the Worship director, I often have someone else lead - I have 3-4 primary worship leaders. Also, I often "share" a service, well I will lead a couple of songs, the next leader will lead, etc .. it's pretty transparent - we can do this without calling a lot of attention to "who the leader" has to be.

God bless,

Wow - what a great voice!

(you already know this but...) a core value of our music ministry is co-leadership. We haven't had a weekend of a single worship leader leading since Easter. Unless we have a guest leader, usually the morning looks like me leading 1-2 songs, Karl leading 1-2 songs, and a female (usually Jen or Jamianne) leading 1-2 songs.
When we have a guest, we usually try and have either Karl or I lead 1-2 songs and the guest 3-4. And I try to schedule a guest worship leader in once a month. (Kreg's coming this month!)

*can't wait to BBQ tonight!*

I think the above comments are great. At my old church down in San Diego they also consistently employed the idea of mentoring worship leaders.

At almost all their services they have a second rhythm guitar player/vocalist. This person may or may not lead a song in a particular service, but they are there getting experience and learning. As they progress they will start to lead a song here and there in the service, gradually doing more and more.

Now that church has at least 5 VERY qualified leaders for their many services each week. That kind of depth allows a lot of flexibility and quality even in "secondary" places (kids, high school, college, saturday service).

What up, Eric. Thanks for stopping by at immersion, I'm really glad to have joined the ranks of 'Worship Confessionalists' (or should that be 'Worship Confessors'?).

Yours is a great confessional...we're on the frontlines and in the trenches, and there's nowhere else I'd rather be. Keep up the good work!

Eric...whattup. Since bein up here in SC, it's actually been kinda nice tryin to spread the leadership around. The Youth Pastor's wife was leading before I got here, so I've kept her leading every 6 weeks or so. She's leading again in August (I hope) cause I'll be teaching.

I also have a few others I'm scoping out to hopefully raise them up as future leaders.
