My wife is taking a small group of 50+ women to Tahquitz Pines in Idyllwild this weekend.
That means that I'm home alone with the boys for the weekend.

I finished the Sprint Triathlon in 1hr. 40min..................... Swim - 1/2mile, Bike - 14miles, Run - 3miles
Well, I finished the triathlon! I think I came in 40th out of 70. Not bad for the first one ever, especially considering that I could barely run a mile 20 days ago.
I thought the swim would be my best section, however, when I hit the water my whole strategy went out the window. I've been training in a pool. As so many people warned me, a lake is totally different than a pool. You can't see any lanes and you can't stop for a break whenever you want... not to mention, all the other people swimming beside you, behind you (tickling your toes), in front of you and across you! That's right, there were a couple guys that were swimming across the course instead of with it! It can get pretty crazy.
You could tell who the seasoned athletes were by their comments as they wisked by us (my buddy Gary and I). They said things like, "You're doing great!" or, "You can do it!". The comments we made were more like, "This sucks!" or "Are you kidding me? We're not even half way yet!"
All in all it was a great experience. We swam this morning and it felt great. I'm already looking forward to the next one. Wanna join us? I think it's in November!
